VEITH PinIT

PinIT is the software for supporting and guiding the matching process around the VEITH Pin Table. It supports woven fabric application as well knitwear applications. The whole process guides the user from ... to:

  • acquiring the relevant fabric parameters
  • calculating necessary data for marker making
  • marker making
  • supporting and organizing the work preparation for the spreading and matching
  • providing a controlled tension-free spreading
  • supporting the spreading and matching in such a way that unskilled operators can learn it easily
  • cutting the lay package

In case of knitted fabric (tubular fabric - open width) it further supports a special method, which will allow to use a normal professional CAD software for planning matching markers for slanted stripes utilizing the inbuilt matching functionality of the CAD software.

PROBLEM

Matching checks, stripes and patterns have made it always necessary to work in the cutting room with special methods. The VEITH Pin Table helps to improve this field of garment manufacturing since years. A maximum of benefits always could be achieved in the men''s wear, where doing the fine-cutting of checks even with a CNC-Cutter is today''s standard.

However until now it was not possible to work in the field of ladies wear, shirts and garments made of knitted fabrics at the same high and efficient level.

The fabric and specific matching conditions are the main reason for this situation. The difficulties are caused by conditions where the pieces have to relate to a particular point of the repeat - mainly the center of the fabric repeat - often so called ''piece to fabric match'', e.g. back, center front, upper sleeve, collar, yoke etc. These conditions make it necessary to plan a marker exactly according to the repeat of the fabric. This seems to be impossible, because of the general perception that the repeats are frequently changing.

blocking in shirts marker

blocking

typical re-laying

re-laying

  • pieces in the marker need to have blocking tolerances, which increase the size of the pieces causing a higher fabric consumption

... higher fabric consumption in times, when fabric costs cover often 60-70% of the total manufacturing costs

  • the lay packages have to be cut in blocks, and the pieces have to be matched piece by piece causing a much lower productivity, i.e. more operators are required

... more operators in times, when almost every half year the wages are about to increase

  • a meaningful usage of a CNC-Cutter for cutting checks is almost impossible

OUR EXPERIENCE SHOWS THAT THERE IS A BETTER WAY

SOLUTION

PinIT-software box

  • PinIT is a software to support the work with the VEITH Pin Table. It is based on our more than 30 years experience, while working with checks, stripes and patterns.
  • PinIT is the necessary tool for successfully planning markers on a CAD-system according to a particular repeat
  • PinIT imports the marker data and links them with the fabric parameters
  • PinIT supports the work preparation for the cutting room. With just a few clicks you have determined the set up of the VEITH Pin Table, i.e. the precise positions of the needle bars. No matter, if it is for woven fabrics or for knitted fabrics
  • so PinIT is synchronizing fabric parameters, with marker data and pinning positions.
  • PinIT transfers the theoretic concept of a matching marker into the reality of the cutting room

Using PinIT means that you will be working according to the ...

PinIT - fabric registration

PinIT screeen fabric registration
  • PinIT guides a user while measuring the repeat and other required data. So these data will be collected in the correct way and typical faults will be avoided. At the same time PinIT ensures to get the data in a sufficient accuracy quality.
  • PinIT has a function called fullness.
    • Fullness the equivalent to tension-free spreading, which is known from automatic spreading machines.
    • Fullness is the key parameter for fine-tuning the complete process, it will be set according to fabric type, fabric defects like bowing and fabric tension on the roll.
    • Fullness will avoid tension during the spreading of the fabric.
    • Fullness helps to compensate the typical small repeat variations.

PinIT - pre-process of CAD

PinIT screen marker info

PinIT calculates the precise data, which are required to plan a correct marker with matching requirements.

  • repeat in x-direction or ''plaid repeat''
  • repeat in y-direction or ''stripe repeat''
  • offset for repeat in y-direction

Only precise data will allow to plan a correct marker for matching requirements. Only then blocking can be omitted, which will reduce fabric consumtion in the end. PinIT delivers this required precision.

PinIT - frame parameters

typical knit marker for slanted stripes
  • PinIT has a special function to support working with knitted fabrics (tubular fabric - open width). As this kind of fabric does not have perpendicular stripes, but slanted stripes, normal CAD software will not be able to plan for such kind of fabric markers, which are using the matching functionality.
  • PinIT generates so called frame parameters. With help of these frame parameters, it will be possible to plan markers for fabrics with slanted stripes using a normal professional CAD software.

PinIT report

PinIT is the important tool implementing an organized preparation - fast, easy and precise -

  • After marker making PinIT PinIT supports the user in combination with the CAD data to determine the exact needed positions of the needle bars of the VEITH Pin Table - mathematical correct, synchronizing marker logic and marker geometry with fabric repeat and needle bar positions.
  • An optional software module provides interactive support for planning the needle bar positions based on data generated by the CAD - consequence the planning process becomes easier and much more productive.
  • PinIT calculates the position of the needle bars in such a way that the fabric can be pinned on the standard repeat.
  • PinIT's NB-shift function supports an easier spreading along a block stripe edge, althought the marker was planned according to the center of the block stripe- often required in case of embriodery.

RESULT

  • Easy guidlines how to spread the fabric reduces the demand in the skill-level of the operators.
  • The training of operators becomes easy
  • The spreading speed will increase
  • The matching accuracy will be more precise
  • When using PinIT a permanent quality control of the fabric will be implemented automatically. Unacceptable repeat variations appear immediately giving the user the opportunity to react accordingly - before the fabric got cut.
  • Even fabrics with some defects can be processed.
  • Automatic cutters can be used for cutting checks and stripes, provided these machines have some particular supporting matching functionality implemented.

ADVANTAGES

  • state of the art work organization
  • minimized fabric consumption
  • maximized productivity
  • usage of CNC-Cutters
  • top quality
  • short ROI
  • VEITH SYSTEM - COMPETENCE in MATCHING CHECKS, STRIPES and PATTERNS
